On June 16, Ambassador Phillips hosted the Embassy's Independence Day celebration. President Ilves and Prime Minister Ansip attended the event, as well as over one thousand key Embassy contacts. The party included live performances by the popular Estonian band Vanilla Ninja as well as the Estonian Border Guard's Big Band and the traditional musical ensemble Väikeste Lõõtspillide Ühing.
