USS Klakring Arrives in Tallinn
The U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce an American Navy ship — the USS Klakring (FFG 42) — will pull into Tallinn harbor on October 27.
USS KLAKRING is home ported in Mayport,Florida, and is named after Rear Admiral Thomas Klakring, a daring World War II submarine commander. The ship was built at Bath Iron Works, Maine, in 1983 and has maintained a tradition of operational excellence since her commissioning. The ship is 133.5 meters long and can travel at speeds of 29 plus knots.
The USS Klakring is one of thirty Oliver Hazard Perry class frigates on active duty in the U.S. Navy. This U.S. Navy frigate specializes in underwater warfare and comes equipped with six MK-46 torpedoes, a 76 mm/62 caliber MK 75 rapid fire gun, and one Phalanx close-in-weapons system.

Members of the press are invited for a press tour — the only public tour of the ship. If you are interested in visiting the ship on Monday, October 27, please register by e-mail at mustonenf@state.gov or phone 503 2869 by 11:00 AM on October 27. All members of the press will be asked to present two documents — a valid picture ID and current press credential — in order to have access to the ship.
The press tour will take place from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at pier 17 in the Port of Tallinn.
